Well it's done. www.BlackBoox.net is finally up and running.

When we were trying to work out the best way of selling our books online, we were initially going to incorporate the webstore into our home site.

Thinking about it though, we realised that as one of only a handful of comic publishers in Australia, and one of even fewer with mass market distribution, we had a great opportunity to offer virtual shelf space to a lot of the other great local creators.

That set us a problem though - if we listed the work of self-published creator on a Black House Comics site, customers could easily think we had published them ourselves.

And while we would be proud to have published any one of the books listed, the fact is that we didn't. The creators took the risks and had the balls to put their money where their mouths were and they deserved the credit.

Hence a separate site, BlackBoox.net.

One of the other great things about the site as a separate entity is that it enables us to offer distribution services to books stores. Retailers can create accounts, log in and get the books wholesale. Billing is handled online and despatch is handled through the in house facilities of our parent company, Jeffries Printing Services in Sydney, Australia. No more trudging around for creators and a professional, easy to use service for stores.

The store is a work in progress so please let me know if you have any dramas. We are also talking with more creators and publishers about listing their books on the site so keep an eye out. Our aim is to make BlackBoox the premier site for Australian comic and genre literature on the web and I think we're well on the way.
